Colonel Tom McGee serves as Director Information Related Capabilities Development for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration. This includes: Space, Cyber, Influence, C-C5ISRT, Ground C2, and Enterprise Services.
A Boston native, Colonel McGee was commissioned in 1998 and following Communications Officers Course, he reported to 1st Marine Division to serve as Platoon Commander and S-6 for 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Bn. Colonel McGee served subsequent operational tours as: S-6, 8th Marine Regiment / Regimental Combat Team-8; Deputy and AC/S G-6, II Marine Logistics Group;
Commander, 7th Communication Battalion; Chief of Future Operations and NATO/Mission Partner Integration, USEUCOM J6; and AC/S G-6 and Director Information Operations Cell, Marine Forces Command, Marine Forces Northern Command, Fleet Marine Forces Atlantic. He participated in combat deployments with 1st and 2d Marine Divisions.
Colonel McGee’s supporting establishment tours include: Navy Warfare Development Command- Strike- Warfare Innovation Development Team; Company Officer, Naval Academy Preparatory School; and Commander, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Kansas City.
Colonel McGee holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Rochester, and Masters Degrees in Strategic Studies and International Security Policy with focuses in Nuclear Deterrence Strategy and Information Operations respectively. He is a graduate of the Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, the Advanced Communications Officers Course, Marine Air Ground Task Force Comm Planners Course, Maritime Prepositioned Force Planners Course, US Army Command and General Staff College / FA 40 Space Operations Officer Track, and the Naval War College, graduating the latter with Highest Distinction and receiving the James Forrestal Award for Excellence is Strategy Development and Force Planning.
