Mr. Bush is a Cybersecurity professional who has supported the United States Marine Corps information technology community since 1989. He is currently serving as the Deputy Director Cybersecurity and Compliance Branch Head and Authorizing Official Designated Representative (AODR), Deputy Commandant for Information (DCI) IC4 ICC CY. Mr. Bush was selected for the Cybersecurity and Compliance Branch Head position in February 2023 and appointed as the Marine Corps AODR in September 2022.

In his current role, he oversees all Marine Corps Cybersecurity and Compliancy related efforts to manage cybersecurity certifications for Marine Corps Enterprise Network program of records (PoRs) and Systems of Record (SoR). These programs encompass a vast range of IT projects and acquisition programs that provide information environment solutions for both the Marine Corps Enterprise Network and deployed tactical enclaves. Mr. Bush’s approach is to improve Assessment and Authorization processes while increasing the security posture of PoRs and SoRs throughout the IT system lifecycle to include maintaining compliancy throughout operations and sustainment. Over the past 15 years he has applied his engineering and cybersecurity experiences by instituting solid cybersecurity principles into the system engineering development processes used by Program Management Offices throughout The Marine Corps.

In earlier assignments as the Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) Cybersecurity Branch Head and Security Controls Assessor (SCA), he led teams that provided enterprise IT systems solutions for the garrison Marine Corps Enterprise Network and Command and Control deployed tactical network services. Prior to that assignment, he served as Lead Systems Engineer and Lead Information Systems Security Manager for both PfM CES and PfM SES. Prior to joining MARCORSYSCOM, he was on active duty and served as a Small Computer Systems Specialist, and later, a Cyber Operations and Network Officer in the Marine Corps for over 20 years. While on active duty he served in various IT and acquisition professional related billets, including deployments to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as a Project Officer at MARCORSYSCOM.

Mr. Bush received his undergraduate degree in Information Technology from University of Phoenix-San Diego in 2005, and received his graduate’s degree in Information Systems from Syracuse University in 2007. Mr. Bush is also a 2022 graduate of Bridging the Gap, which is the Department of the Navy (DoN) Senior Executive Service (SES) leadership prep school. Mr. Bush holds several professional certifications to include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). Mr. Bush’s Marine Corps decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/2 Gold Stars, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/1 Silver Star.
