Enlisted Professional Development and Enhancement (EPD&E) is an effort to institutionalize “MOS to Degree” within TECOM. The proof of concept for “MOS to Degree” was demonstrated by Northern Virginia Community College (“NOVA”) when they completed the mapping of 8 MOS’s to academic credit. The charter for EPD&E is signed by four General Officers: TECOM; Marine and Family Programs; DIR C4; and, DIRINT.
EPD&E is about technical professionalization of our Marines beginning with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed in cyber security and information warfare. EPD&E is also about optimizing credentialing for our Marines as they work with others in the Community of Practice. EPD&E begins with a pilot effort in December 2016 involving a cohort of 25 Marines who will attend a “surge” event at Quantico; a 4 credit course that will be delivered as training by NOVA. This cohort of Marines will then begin pursuit of an Associates Degree in Cybersecurity over the following year or so.
The EPD&E Scholarship Fund has been established to support books and supplies for Marines enrolled in EPD&E. All funds contributed through AFCEA-QP will be used to support this noble effort.
