On Thursday, December 12, 2013, the Quantico-Potomac Chapter, AFCEA, held a luncheon at The Clubs at Quantico. Our speaker was Mr. Matthew Braverman from the FBI who spoke on the FBI’s efforts in cyber security.

Matthew Braverman is a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) at the FBI’s Washington Field Office. SSA Braverman’s squad is responsible for investigating complex state-sponsored computer intrusions targeting organizations within DC and Northern Virginia. These intrusions are commonly referred to as an advanced persistent threat (APT). SSA Braverman entered on-duty with the FBI on March 4, 2007. In addition to the Washington Field Office, SSA Braverman has worked in the FBI’s Buffalo field office. In Buffalo, SSA Braverman investigated a variety of cyber crime, including internet fraud, criminal computer intrusions, and online child pornography. Prior to the FBI, SSA Braverman worked as a program manger within Microsoft’s Antimalware team. SSA Braverman has a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in computer science.
